Stayed here before now and I would definitely book again. Spent my time lovely here, I truly enjoyed the place. The hotel was stunningly beautiful, it had a great location just off the river by a homesick expat Scot in the 19th century and all the tourist attractions and downtown Nikko...
Nothing to dislike.

We loved this place - stunningly beautiful and charming hotel.
The hotel was a unique base for enjoying a great area, close to the popular and regular local buses and the garden and the temples and shrines. Spacious and beautiful rooms with private bathroom, felt like home. Central heating, a personal safe and multi-channel TV available were an advantage. The location was marvellous, at walking distance from Shinkyo Bridge.

The breakfasts is delicious with variety of food. Their rooms are always huge and tidy with an adjoining bath, the zen garden plus wooden bathtub. The location is marvellous and awesome, approx 10-15 minutes' walk from Shinkyo Bridge.
Everything is what i need and want.

We were pleasantly surprised by the warm greeting we received upon arrival at the hotel. The staff, especially Mrs. Fukuhara, were incredibly accommodating and made us feel at home. Our non-smoking room was clean, cozy, and quiet. The kaiseki meals served were large and delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the outdoor bath with its stunning view of the snowy hills. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and within walking distance of the famous sites in Nikko. we had a great experience and would highly recommend Hoshinoyado.

I recently stayed at Hoshino Yado in Nikko for a few days. The hotel staff were energetic and helpful, and the female manager spoke fluent English. The location was perfect, within walking distance of Nikko's World Heritage sites, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Getting around was easy with nearby bus stops and the hotel's free pickup service. The rooms were neat and comfy, and the meals were beautifully presented and delicious. The hotel's Japanese garden and outdoor hot tub were also impressive.
I do recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed this place - incredibly beautiful and charming hotel.
The hotel was a lovely place for enjoying a great area, very close to JR train line, and bus stop & restaurants. The room with wooden bathtub. It was nice to find an electric kettle and a refrigerator.

I recently had the chance to experience a true taste of Japanese hospitality at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and comfortable. They provided clear instructions on how to wear traditional garments and use the communal bath, making us feel truly immersed in the culture. The dinner and breakfast were absolutely divine, showcasing the best of local Nikko cuisine. The staff's attention to detail, from the beautiful room to the delicious meals, exceeded our expectations.
No major issues, all was perfect.

Nothing not to love.

The food was decent, with a variety of dishes to try. The location was convenient, with tourist attractions nearby. The hot springs were also enjoyable, a great way to relax.
The room was dated and in need of maintenance. The staff seemed disinterested in providing good service during the busy Christmas period.

The dinner and breakfast were complimentary and we liked that. The hotel is situated in a very convenient location near the most important attractions you need to see. Another best aspect was the excellent and friendly staff always willing to help.
The bathrooms and toilets did not have air conditioning which made the rooms, especially when outside temperatures were above 36 degrees Celsius, very muggy. the dinner served was too foreign for us.

Located in a prime area, near all the interesting places, this traditional hotel provides an authentic Japanese-style experience. The rooms are beautifully designed, with a nice view of the gardens. The friendly staff will help you dress in traditional Japanese garments, and the formal Japanese-style dinner is a unique experience. Breakfast is included in the room cost, making it a great value for your money.
The hotel has a curfew in place, so be sure to plan your evening activities accordingly.

The staff here are very friendly and provide excellent service. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, with wooden bathtubs and your own toilet.
